HomeShift is operated by a sole proprietor based in the Netherlands. We take your privacy seriously and keep data collection to an absolute minimum. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what your rights are.

What We Collect

When you run a scan

We store the ecosystems and devices you select, along with your compatibility score and a timestamp. This data does not identify you personally unless you choose to enter your email address on the results page.

When you sign up for updates

If you enter your email address (on the landing page or after a scan), we store it alongside the source (e.g. "landing page" or "scan results") and a timestamp. That's it. No name, no phone number, no tracking cookies.

Server logs

Our web server (nginx) records standard access logs: IP address, timestamp, URL requested, user agent, and response code. These logs are rotated and deleted automatically after 14 days. We do not use this data for profiling or marketing.

What We Do NOT Collect

• No tracking cookies or advertising pixels
• No Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or similar services
• No fingerprinting or cross-site tracking
• No data sharing with third parties for marketing
• No payment data (we don't process payments yet)

How We Use Your Data

• Scan data: to generate your compatibility results and improve our device database
• Email: to send you product updates, launch announcements, and (if you opted in from a scan) a copy of your results. We will never sell your email or share it with third parties.
• Server logs: to diagnose errors and monitor uptime

Where Your Data Lives

All data is stored on a server in Falkenstein, Germany (Hetzner Online GmbH). Data never leaves the EU. Backups are encrypted and stored on the same infrastructure.

Your Rights (GDPR)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to:

• Access your data: ask us what we have stored about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your data entirely ("right to be forgotten")
• Export your data in a portable format
• Object to processing of your data
• Withdraw consent at any time (for email communications)

To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@joinhomeshift.com. We will respond within 30 days.

Data Retention

• Scan results: stored indefinitely (anonymized, no personal data unless you provided email)
• Email addresses: stored until you unsubscribe or request deletion
• Server logs: auto-deleted after 14 days

Cookies

HomeShift does not use cookies. No cookie banner needed. You're welcome.

Children

HomeShift is not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

Changes to This Policy

If we make significant changes, we will update the "last updated" date at the top and, if you've given us your email, notify you directly.
